Jeff Soderbergh Custom Sustainable Furnishings
Jeff Soderbergh Custom Sustainable Furnishings is a full service design/build furnishings company. For over 25 years, Jeff has been creating award-winning custom furnishings and sculpture for both residential and commercial clients and collectors. Out of his studio based in Newport, RI, Jeff Soderbergh focuses on creating one sustainable heirloom piece at a time. Each piece is exceptionally crafted using timeless joinery, the finest hand selected reclaimed materials and family friendly finishes for years of enjoyment and easy care.
I collaborate with architects, interior designers and homeowners to create extraordinary custom pieces that always come with a unique story because of the sustainable materials used.
If we can think it, we can build it. Any style, any natural material from refined rustic to super clean and contemporary.
Wood, metal, stone, glass and cast concrete are the materials that I design and work with. It all starts with an idea and a conversation and it becomes my job to make it a seamless reality.
I also provide the finest reclaimed materials for both residential and commercial projects. Vintage beams become flooring, paneling and accent pieces. Windfall trees are milled for super clean details. Vintage stone with incredible patina is available in a huge array of options from antique pavers for driveways, motor courts and hardscapes to antique ship’s ballast for outdoor benches and tables, fireplace surrounds and mantels. I have vast resources to draw from.
The materials that I am able to source come primarily from the Northeast. They are of the finest quality and are specifically chosen for each project/use. Early homes, mill buildings, ships, churches, schools and barns are carefully surveyed and we painstakingly remove and stockpile exceptional old growth timbers. My large trees are either collected after storms or removed from orchards when they are at the very end of their long lives. It is awe inspiring to be surrounded by some of these giants in the shop. The metals that I use come from small foundries and feature a recycled content above 90%. Vintage stone is all about the shape and stunning patina. Cast concrete is an amazing material to design with and can be used in conjunction with a multitude of recycled content.
We always have a diverse inventory of salvage building materials on hand for large-scale commercial projects and stunning details for residential homes. In addition, we have the ability to source specific items through our extensive network.
