Sneak Peeks: Getting Grounded

By Maria LaPiana

Lara and Craig Wilson live a life most of us only dream of. They work on a luxury yacht and travel the world more than nine months out of the year. A few years ago, the couple heard land calling and decided to set up home (with an eye on the future), in a charming, vintage Newport home. Instinctively, they called in designer Dennis Duffy of Boston to finish the interiors (“He got us straightaway,” says Lara). The space may be smaller than the homes Duffy typically furnishes, but the outcome was impressive nonetheless. To read the story (“A Sea Change”) and see just how Duffy satisfied the Wilsons’ penchant for fine interior design, you’ll have to pick up the July/August issue of New England Home. Here’s a peek at Duffy’s handiwork:

The bedroom got a jolt of color that plays off custom pieces, lending it more than a note of sophistication.

Whimsy rules in a guestroom, where mixed-modern pieces sit comfortably alongside a vintage daybed.
