Michelle Cortizo: Navy Crush

September 17, 2013

Honestly, I really don’t know when it all began, but I must admit, I have a crush on navy. And apparently I’m not the only one. Navy’s continued growth in popularity has spawned a resurgence of home products and accessories that flaunt it as the new black. From the revival and increasing interest in Delft and similar products-to lusting for high-performance La Cornue stoves (yes, they’re available in navy!), the demand for the color is here to stay. For example, Delft pieces old and new are traditional and timeless investments that can be used to off-set the most modern spaces to create a more collected aesthetic. They are the perfect injection of navy that will never go out of style…classic and global!

Bridging the gap between fashion and home design, Valentino used blue with the most ethereal application for his fall/winter 2013 ready-to-wear show. Valentino proves that the runway is no exception in providing inspiration to both worlds of design.

Example A: Valentino‘s F/W ’13 presentation and this stunning blue-and-white china both speak the same language.

The Attingham stoneware from Anthropologie is featuring their cheeky version on delft.

Love this ceramic herringbone vase from William-Sonoma! It is one of many blue pieces from their new collection. This particular piece was inspired by ancient marbling techniques. I particularly love the handcrafted earthy feeling of this vase.

The Mary McDonald Collection at Patterson, Flynn & Martin does variations of blue and white like this! Bold and dynamic the ‘Parterre’ pattern is current and sophisticated. It draws its design from manicured botanical gardens. Striking!

How could I mention this beauty and not show it? Feast your eyes on La Cornue in navy! I try not to stare but it’s almost impossible! Obsessed!
