A new lamp casts a cheerful glow.
Wanting a unique lighting piece for their new Nantucket outpost, Westport-based shop keepers Rhonda Eleish and Edie van Breems collaborated with longtime friends Charlie and Kristin Allen of Avant Garden in Pound Ridge, New York, to develop their new Trident fixture. “It’s very sculptural,” says van Breems of the adaptable three-arm torchiere.
The piece (now also available off-island through their Connecticut shops) is based on Avant Garden’s own Meander collection, and features gesticulating leather-wrapped arms that can be moved to create any number of looks and illumination options. The result is a floor lamp that is elegant, but doesn’t take itself too seriously. Says Eleish: “It’s kind of like a toy for adults.” evbantiques.com; avantgardenltd.com
