Lend a Helping Hand – Habitat for Humanity Builders Blitz

Acton Street in Lawrence, Massachusetts will soon be buzzing with activity thanks to the Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity and a large group of volunteers. The group will be building two homes in the Lower Tower section of the city. This “blitz” is part of a national Habitat for Humanity program that builds more than 200 homes in the course of the week. This year’s blitz takes place on June 9 through June 14 and hundreds of volunteers will join the new homeowners and a large group of building professionals to create two new homes.

Steve and Susan Howell of Howell Custom Building Group chair the 2014 Merrimack Valley blitz event. Joining them is an impressive team of seasoned builders who will shepherd the project to completion.

A home (much less two) doesn’t get built in less than a week without some serious support. The logistic committee helps coordinate volunteers, fundraising, site logistics and much more.

There are several ways to help support this great cause. You can join the group of volunteers and provide hands on help. No need to wield a hammer—there is plenty of logistic support that is needed.
