I saw these amazing gourds as I drove past Country Culture in Brookline, New Hampshire. If you need something with a country/folk look, this is the place or you. For their fall display they have a large selection of over-size dried gourds, which have a great fall pumpkin feeling without looking too much like Halloween. It’s hard to tell from this photo, but they are roughly the size of a car tire!

The exotic patterns and lush colors of L’Objet‘s new collection of Fortuny-inspired tableware have whet my appetite for entertaining. With motifs drawn from Fortuny’s famed fabrics, the luxurious pieces are liberally embellished with gold, perfect for a festive fall dinner party. The collection is available in New England through Neiman Marcus stores.

I am endlessly fascinated with the paintings of Jeanne Duval. The colors, the subject matter, the texture and the detail that she includes in each piece are simply astounding. Each lemon makes my mouth water; each person she paints, I want to touch their skin. Not bad for a New Hampshire girl who started out reproducing the paintings she found on the backs of sugar packets.
