Like accessorizing your wardrobe with a fabulous new scarf, adding new pillows to a room will have the same effect. Throw in a new pillow or two, and it feels new, fresh and transformative, changing the look instantaneously with little effort..

Interior designer Shannon Tate has created her own line of pillows called Priere Pillows. Perfect jewel-like pillows are classic yet trendy. A definite go-to if your looking to jazz up any room.

Now that the stores have determined that we are officially entering the holiday season we might as well think about sprucing up our homes to feel a little more festive. I’ve never been one to do a lot of themed decorating so I loved seeing these Piper Collection pillows at High Point this week that play off the reindeer theme. Blitzen, the larger of the two features the silhouette of antlers in leather on luxurious velvet while it’s smaller sibling Prancer’s antlers are embroidered onto metallic flax. They are the perfect hint of what’s soon to come.

I was feeling rather pleased with myself this week, having picked up a few small holiday gifts for my sons while on assignment in West Hartford, Conn. But a shopkeeper promptly put me in my place when she informed me that she starts shopping for the holidays—in earnest, meaning she is always looking—on the day after Christmas. Now feeling woefully behind, I’m pleased that the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Conn. is hosting the first of two Pop-Up Makers Markets tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 19). It’s sure to be an art-lover’s shopping paradise, with works by the following artisans included in the sale: ceramics by dbO Home and Beth Bolgla; glassware by Ten Willow Studio, beeswax candles by Niho Kozuru Studio; turned wood bowls by Platform Furniture and Fabrication; and tabletop items by Palo Samko. The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is located 58 Main St., Ridgefield, (203) 438-4519. The second Market is scheduled for Nov. 29. For more information, go to aldrichart.org.
