The Herter Brothers and Gilded Age Interior: The William H. Vanderbilt House
March 4 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join Alice Cooney Frelinghuysen, Anthony W. and Lulu C. Wang, curator of American Decorative Arts at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, for a discussion about the Herter Brothers work on the William H. Vanderbilt’s Fifth Avenue mansion. The mansion, completed in 1882, was not only the grandest house in America of the time, but it was also the crowning achievement of Herter Brothers, the preeminent cabinetmakers and decorators of America’s Gilded Age.
