Designer Snapshot: Everything Old is New Again

February 2, 2011

Washington, Connecticut, interior designer Karen Davis vows this year to seek out manufacturers and local craftsmen who use sustainable techniques in their production process. “Every little bit helps the environment and the economy,†she says. One example, the bedroom shown here from a project Davis worked on with Connecticut architect Reese Owens and Ed Cady of East Coast Barn Builders. Cady “makes old buildings come alive again,†Davis says, by salvaging old barns and using their materials in new buildings.

Another example: this eco-friendly Weitzner wallpaper–made with recycled newspaper–that Davis chose for a game room in the Perspectives department of our current issue.
