Summer Fever

There are a few things in life that once you have them you know you’ll never want for anything else. At least that’s the way I feel about a new line of linens being designed and produced by Greenwich-based interior designer Charlotte Barnes. The collection—one long kaftan, one slip, one style of dinner napkins, one tablecloth and one set of sheets are each perfection. Light linen, beautiful tailoring just a touch of detail decorates each. I’m keeping them in mind both to wear as a houseguest this summer and to give as hostess gifts.

Speaking of getting ready for summer, even though the snow isn’t gone I’m already thinking about outdoor entertaining. What could be more wonderful than dinner on the water and using these Airwaves Placemats by MK Coastal on the table? Made in New England from recycled sailcloth, the colors are fantastic and the cleanup—even if your guests are the under-ten set—a breeze.

I’m car crazy right now. Maybe it’s the spring-like air or just the fact that I should be looking at a new car, but what I really want is an amphibious car, one that you can drive on land or in water. They do exist (and are pricey) and would be the ultimate way to get around on Martha’s Vineyard, the Cape, Squam Lake or anywhere water meets land. The vintage ones are adorable, but I’m leaning more toward something new as they are roomier. Now if you’d like to donate one to me I promise to fully document my (mis)adventures in it as soon as the ice thaws!

By the way, did you notice how I just skipped over spring? I think we deserve an early summer.
