In 1944, Robert Winston started Winston Flowers as a pushcart in front of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Boston’s Back Bay. In 1957, his son, Maynard opened the first boutique on fashionable Newbury Street, which remains open today as one of the oldest family owned businesses in Boston. As a result of Maynard’s strong relationships with the community, Winston Flowers flourished under his stewardship and remains today as Boston’s leader in floral design and artistry.

Today, his three sons, David, Ted, and Michael, have taken the well worn reigns growing the business to seven boutique locations, including the flagship two acre garden center, which was chosen as the “#1 Great American Garden Shop” by Garden Design magazine. For over sixty years, Winston Flowers remains synonymous with enduring style and excellence.

Winston Flowers’ design service includes visiting customer’s homes to offer advice for container gardens, roof gardens or smallspace gardens: what to plant and where, what containers to use, how to achieve the best effect. Designers help you select the right plants and then, if you wish, plant them for you. In fact, many customers have Winston Flowers visit every season to update their containers for year-round color.
