Hand knotted Oriental carpets have been used in home decoration for over 2000 years. The earliest fragments date back to 400 BC. Treasured by princes, nobles, merchants and the average man, they are still the most misunderstood, complicated and confusing of all home furnishings purchased today.

For this reason, it is so important to work with an expert in the field whom you can trust.

What is a real Oriental Rug?

The J. Namnoun Oriental Rug Gallery opened in Hartford, CT over 25 years ago. Joseph Namnoun places a strong emphasis on the education of his clients. There is no deception, inflated valuations or false discounts. Over the years, he has taught classes and seminars, curated exhibits and worked as an expert appraiser in the field of Oriental Rugs.

In 1992, Joe Namnoun partnered with Marianne Donahue, a Professional Interior Designer and member of ASID. Their combined backgrounds of art, design and antiquities put the J. Namnoun Oriental Rug Gallery in the special category of Boutique Dealer.

Mr. Namnoun and Ms. Donahue personally hand select every rug that goes into their inventory. They concentrate on the finely crafted artisan workshop pieces that are unique to the market and will become tomorrow’s heirlooms.
